Quelle est la particularité des corps exposés ?
Dans les années 1970, l’initiateur de l’exposition, Gunther von Hagen, a mis au point une technique permettant de préparer et de préserver durablement les corps humains. La base de sa technique est l’échange d’eau et de graisse avec divers matériaux en plastique et en silicone pour rendre chaque partie du corps durable. Cette procédure est appelée Plastination. En révélant l’intérieur du corps, il est possible d’acquérir des connaissances passionnantes et inconnues jusqu’alors.
La procédure est compliquée et longue. Les organes, les muscles et les tendons doivent être exposés sous la peau et le tissu adipeux et préparés, positionnés et fixés individuellement ; une procédure exigeante et longue que seuls les spécialistes possédant des connaissances anatomiques étendues et un haut degré de compétence maîtrisent. La préparation d’un seul corps prend généralement plus de 1000 heures de travail.
Les préparations servent à la médecine en tant qu’objets de recherche et sont des aides pédagogiques établies pour l’éducation des étudiants. En même temps, les plastinats conviennent également comme matériel d’illustration pour les personnes qui s’intéressent à l’anatomie du corps humain.
Une première exposition des pièces corporelles de Gunther von Hagen a eu lieu au Japon en 1995, suivie deux ans plus tard par l’exposition allemande ‘Body Worlds’ dans la ville de Mannheim.
Au fil des ans, l’exposition a été continuellement élargie à l’aide d’un système de donneurs dans lequel plus de 13 000 donneurs de corps sont actuellement enregistrés.
