Substory #1 - Nicchibuza's Newest Fan
Unlocking mission: Approach Nichibuza's place in the northern part of Rakunai (rectangular purple building on the map). A cutscene with Lady and one of the bandits will start. After watching it, talk to the standing characters.

About Substory: You must deal with a group of thugs and take your first dance lesson. You will unlock the dancing mini-game - you can now visit the Nichibuza Dance Studio in free exploration mode.
Substory #2 - Deceitful Deity
Unlocking mission: Walk down Karasuma Street northwest of Rakunai, next to the Watami Restaurant. Weary Doshin will stop you.

About Substory: This quest is about finding Dark Ebisu - you will play the main part of Substory southeast of the mission's starting point.
Substory #3 - Who's Entertaining Who?
Unlocking mission: You must have unlocked access to Nichibuza Studio by completing Substory #1 - visiting this location is a part of Substory 3.
Explore the south-eastern part of the district (Sannocho). Talk to Shikokuya Okami.

About Substory: This quest is about entertaining Kanda-sensei. You can find him at the Watami restaurant in the Rakunai district.
Substory #4 - I'll Miss You, Miho
Unlocking mission: Visit the northern part of the district (Kawaramachi). A cutscene of Shinta and Miho's meeting will start automatically.

About Substory: Talk to Miho and go to the large shrine west of the quest starting point. Substory's theme is to make it happen for Shinta and Miho to say goodbye.
Substories #11 - Global Fraud
Unlocking mission: In Teramachi, in the southern part of the district, you will be stopped by the School Teacher and ask for help in conducting a lesson.

Substory #5 - Talkin' Tosa
Unlocking mission: Visit the north-eastern part of the district (Kawaramachi). There is a man standing there and you have to talk to him.
Location: Substory #5 - Talkin' Tosa
About Substory: This quest is about helping Fuji translate letters from his beloved. There are 3 letters in total, and he will receive them in quick succession. The correct dialogue options are listed on a page: Talkin' Tosa - letters translations. The reward for completing the Substory is Phoenix Feather.
Substory #6 - The Mochi Mystery
Unlocking mission: Visit the south-western part of the district. Near Kurogane Smithing, you will meet a group of men - talk to them.

About Substory: Your job is to find out who is the thief. You have to interrogate the suspects and pick the right ones - it's Higashihara and Miamino. As a reward, you will receive Godslayer's Talisman (rare crafting material).
Substory #7 - Ee Ja Nai for Justice
Unlocking mission: You must first complete Substory #22 in the Rakugai district - Substory #22 - Ee Ja Not Ka.
In the southwestern part of Rakunai you will meet a group of dancing people again.

About Substory: You have to defeat a group of thugs. The reward for completing the quest is Tranquil Towel - it's an element of the Gear, which blocks accumulating Heat (the Heat Gauge will not be charged).
Substory #8 - The Unwilling Courier
Unlocking mission: Advance to at least Chapter 5 and visit Shinjo Bridge in the eastern part of Rakunai. You will meet a running courier (reaction to his sudden appearance is irrelevant).

About Substory: Ryoma needs to help the courier deliver 6 packages. You have a little over 90 seconds to do this.
In this Substory and other delivery missions, you can pause the game by opening the map. This will allow you to determine the optimal route to the next people.
Substory #9 - Enter the Black Panther Couriers
Unlocking mission: You must complete Substory #8 described above and visit the Shinjo Bridge again. In addition to the courier, you will meet a group of Black Panther Couriers dressed in black.

About Substory: This mission involves a race with one of the Black Panther couriers. You have to be the first to deliver 10 packages to NPCs from different parts of Rakunai.
Substory #10 - The Panthers' Leading Man
Unlocking mission: You must complete Substory #9 described above and visit the northern part of Rakunai (Teramachi Street). You will encounter two Black Panther couriers dressed in black - talk to them.

About Substory: There's another race to complete. You must be the first to deliver 12 packages to the NPCs marked on the map.
Substory #12 - The Hungry Sumo Wrestler
Unlocking mission: Advance to at least Chapter 5 and visit South Teramachi Street in the southern part of Rakunai. A cutscene will start with a sumo wrestler lying on the ground next to the car.

About Substory: You need to feed the wrestler - give him any consumable item from your inventory. You will unlock a bond with Hungry Sumo Wrestler - you can bring him more food so that he has the strength to fight sumo contests.
Substory #13 - The Love-Starved Husband
Unlocking mission: Advance to at least Chapter 4 and visit Teramachi in Southeast Rakunai. Contemplating Man will be standing on the shore.

About the Substory: This mission is about delivering a hand-made meal (it cannot be a ready-to-eat takeout meal from a restaurant) - you must visit the farm and select any dish to cook from the list. You will unlock a bond with Love-Starved Husband - you can cook more meals and bring them back to share with the man.
Substory #14 - The Oblivious Woman
Unlocking mission: Advance to at least Chapter 4. Near the Palanquin Ride fast travel point in the northern part of Rakunai, you will be accosted by Oblivious Woman.

About Substory: You need to talk to the woman about the lost purse and give her any vegetables from your inventory. You will unlock a bond with Oblivious Woman - you can bring her more vegetables.
Substory #15 - The Injured Grandma
Unlocking mission: Visit the border of the Rakugai and Rakunai districts - Teramachi. You will notice an old woman lying on the ground there.

About Substory: In this short mission, Ryoma will help an old woman get to her home in Rakunai. You will unlock a bond with Injured Grandma - you can visit her.
Substory #16 - The Barking Dog
Unlocking mission: Reach at least Chapter 4 and visit the south-eastern part of the district (Teramachi). Ryoma will encounter a barking dog.

About Substory: You can calm the dog down by bringing him a bone - it can be bought at Ebisu Pawn right next to the substory starting location. You will unlock bond with Barking Dog - you can bring the pet more bones.
Completing the Bond with Injured Dog will allow you to adopt it - this mechanic is described in more detail on Adopting dogs and cats page of the guide.
Substory #17 - The Lucky Cat
Unlocking mission: Advance to at least Chapter 4 and visit the northwest part of the district (Karasuma Street). You will meet the Cat-Dependent Man standing next to the cat.

About Substory: You have to give 1000 Mon to the cat - in return, the pet will bring you Whitebait. You will unlock a bond with Lucky Cat. You can give the cat more and more coins and receive more gifts.
Completing the Bond with Lucky Cat will allow you to adopt it - this mechanic is described in more detail on Adopting dogs and cats page of the guide.
Substory #67 - The Spitfire Debt Collector
Unlocking mission: You must first complete Substory #69 in the Rakugai District (near Chicken Racing) - Substory #69 - The Spitfire Town Protector.
Meet Yae for the second time. She will be standing in front of the entrance to Kurogane Smithing (the blacksmith's place - the border of Rakugai and Rakunai districts).

About Substory: Go with Yae to the attacked woman and agree to help deal with the thugs. You have to play a major fight in Gambling Den, and after winning it, you will get 3 Ryo.
Substory #68 - The Spitfire Lie Detector
Unlocking mission: You must complete Substory #67 described above. Reach Kurogane Smithing again, and a cutscene of Yae's conversation with the woman should play.

About Substory: Agree to help Yae again. You will receive 3 Ryo and have to fight two battles where stronger mini-bosses will appear. You will complete Yae's storyline.
