UPDATE: A new rumour suggests Fortnite server downtime will end at 3pm GMT on Sunday, December 5.

That's according to PlayStation Support, which claims the game will be back online on Sunday afternoon.

"RUMOR: According to this image, the PlayStation support said the new season launches at 10am ET on December 5!" reads a Shiina tweet.

"That would be in around 16 hours..? Seems unlikely, but possible!"

ORIGINAL: Fortnite Chapter 3 is about to begin, but only after a period of extended server downtime.

Fortnite's epic end of season event 'The End' featured an appearance by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

The season ended with the island flipping upside down to reveal a brand new map. Unfortunately, the appearance of a huge tidal wave means players will have to wait a little longer for the season to begin.

To get things ready for the start of Chapter 3, Epic has taken the game offline for server maintenance.

There's no official downtime schedule, although previous reports suggest the game will remain offline until at least December 6.

Other reports suggest Fortnite will be back online at 9am GMT on December 7. Express Online will update this story with all the latest developments.

In the meantime, anybody trying to connect will be greeted by the Fortnite loading screen and a message confirming that the game is connecting.

If you do manage to log back in, you'll see a distant character floating in the sea, alongside the occasional floating box.

The new update should be available to download ahead of Chapter 3, so expect more leaks to appear then.

As for the end of season event, things played out like they did in the trailer.

It all started with players fighting big caretaker monsters and cube monsters, before a cutscene featuring The Rock and Prison Jones.

After blowing up the base and washing up in the water, players saw the island flip over as the Cube Queen was destroyed.

After a brief glimpse of the new map, the tidal wave wiped players out. The camera would then zoom out, which is when downtime began.

Needless to say, streamers will be broadcasting the entire thing. It's similar to the Black Hole event, when the game was offline for days.

Based on previous leaks, the new season will introduce Spider-Man as a playable character.

It's also possible that Prison Jones and The Foundation will be featured in the Battle Pass.

Other reports suggest Epic Games will add saddles to the game, which will let you ride animals.

Neo from The Matrix and Boba Fett from Star Wars are both tipped to appear in the Item Shop, alongside a new Battle Pass with fresh rewards.

Update, 12:55 Uhr: Die ersten Leute berichten, dass auf PlayStation und Nintendo Switch das Update für Chapter 4 verfügbar ist. Jedoch scheinen die Server trotzdem noch nicht erreichbar zu sein. Aber immerhin tauchen Hinweise zum Ende der Downtime auf. Auch die Experten sagen, dass Fortnite demnächst mit Chapter 4 startet – stellt euch auf Warteschlangen ein.

Update, 12:07 Uhr: Es gibt immer noch keinen Zugriff auf die Server von Fortnite. Die Downtime dauert länger als gedacht und niemand weiß genau, was das Problem ist – eigentlich wurde vermutet, dass die Pause nicht länger als heute um 11 Uhr dauern sollte. Die Insider sind sich sicher, dass Fortnite in weniger als einer Stunde wieder am Start sein sollte. Epic Games schweigt auf Twitter und Co.

Update, 11:22 Uhr: Bisher sind die Server noch immer nicht online. Es scheint sich noch etwas hinauszuzögern. Die Fortnite-Insider sind sich auch nicht sicher, warum das Spiel noch nicht erreichbar ist – aber sehr viel länger kann es nicht mehr dauern.

Fortnite Chapter 4: Server Status – Wann kann man wieder Fortnite spielen?

Wann geht Fortnite wieder? Das kann bisher niemand wirklich sagen. Die Server von Fortnite sind offline und man kommt nicht ins Spiel. Wann genau es wieder losgeht, kann nur Epic Games sagen – jedoch sind die Kanäle auf den sozialen Netzwerken ruhig. Für gewöhnlich gehen die Server in den Morgenstunden wieder online, sodass man bis 12 Uhr die Server von Fortnite wieder erreichbar sind.

Die Downtime sollte nicht länger als 12 Stunden dauern, sodass es eigentlich spätestens um 11 Uhr losgehen sollte.

Epic Games hat überraschend den Frühstart von Chapter 4 angekündigt, sodass es unklar ist, ob die üblichen Zeitfenster eingehalten werden können – aber eigentlich sollte nichts dagegen sprechen.
